Boomtown: Why we should all thank our lucky stars we live and work in Houston
It is hard to believe that Lehman going under and hurricane Ike was just 5 years ago. What a difference half a decade has made. To understand the powerful story of the Houston real estate market, it is important to understand the context of the greater national story. In a nation where there are just three metros that have more jobs than it did pre-recession, Houston was last in and first out of the recession and has far exceeded its pre-recession job numbers. You do not have to be a PHD economist to look at the simple supply and demand fundamentals that the resulting job growth has created to get a good indication of why we are seeing so many cranes in and around the Houston metro. This means a variety of things for those of us who are impacted by the trajectory of real estate in Houston. We look forward to taking a closer look at what it means to be in a real estate boomtown.
