Abstract of Presentation: Gensler’s research shows that workplace effectiveness has declined since 2008 in large part because today’s workplaces do not provide an effective balance between the four work modes: focus, collaboration, learning and socializing. Results show that a lack of focus space drags down the effectiveness of all other work modes; and that balanced workplaces that provide employees the autonomy to choose their work space based on the task or project at hand are more effective and higher-performing. When it comes to creating an optimal work environment—design matters. When you get it right, your people are happier, healthier, more productive and your company is perceived as being more innovative.
